Local law creating snowmobile season approved

Oneida County legislators give the go-ahead

UTICA–Oneida County legislators approved a local law to create a snowmobile season, said to help deter riders from taking to the trails when insufficient snow is on the ground.

The law says the riding season will start the first day after the last day of big game gun season–which is set by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.

Before going into effect the measure still needs approval from the New York Secretary of State, and the county executive.
