On Saturday August 6th one local dentist is opening her office to give free dental care to those in need. Eyewitness News reporter Nicole Todd was at the office today to promote this free event in a health matters story.
A local dentist is giving back to the community one smile at a time. But it’s for only one day coming up in August.
Dentistry from the Heart, the nonprofit organization, that provides routine procedures in dental care for those who can’t afford it. Dr. Belen sees the need for care in Utica and is opening her office for free fillings, cleanings and extractions.
“We decided this was the best way for us to engage and provide and give back to the community and provide the services that people cannot afford.”
This is the community’s second Dentistry from the Heart event. And the only one in the area.
“I think it’s really cool that she is willing to do that for other people. Since a lot of people in this area can’t and don’t have the ability to that for themselves.”
Patients interested in getting this free dental care, are asked to arrive early since registration begins at 7am.
“It’s very rewarding to do that. I think I have the responsibility to do that and give back to the community. This community has been great for us and welcoming and it doesn’t get better than that to see people smile. It is a great feeling.”
