Lead and Copper Found in the village of Herkimer’s Drinking Water

VILLAGE OF HERKIMER, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) —The Village of Herkimer is reporting elevated levels of lead and copper in their drinking water.

Lead poisoning can cause serious health issues, especially for pregnant women and children.
They are asking all residents to run the water for 30 seconds before using and use cold water for cooking and preparing baby formula. Boiling water does not remove lead. No word yet on when we can expect those traces of lead to be removed.

For any questions please call the village office at 315-866-3303.
