NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — Those looking for a non-traditional holiday gift, especially for music-lovers, can stop by Reimagine Records in New Hartford. The owners, Scott and Michelle Havens, say they’ve always loved tangible media records and opened their store about 6 years ago.

“I’ve always collected records, I’ve always collected physical media, vinyl, CD’s, cassettes and I’ve been doing it since I was a little kid.” – Scott Havens, Owner of Reimagine Records

Scott says the great thing about giving a record as a gift is that it’s meaningful, and can even bring a person back to a lot of memories.

“You can watch people come in to the store and they look at records and those memories of when they got it for Christmas, they can remember it’s like instant time travel. They go right back to the time that they got it. Which makes it such a cool gift. . and i don’t know of any other medium that does that besides music.” – Scott Havens, Owner of Reimagine Records

They also have cd’s and books about music with a variety of genres.

“We have pop and rock and metal and country and garage and jazz everything. Jazz is really big. We have vintage records and new records as well.” – Scott Havens, Owner of Reimagine Records

This week they’re open through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then they’re reopen the 26th. And if you’re looking to part with some old records, you can come by to sell them.

“If anybody has collections to sell and they want a little bit extra money for holiday, we’re happy to take them.” – Scott Havens, Owner of Reimagine Records
