July is ice cream month in New York

STITTSVILLE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon passed a resolution designation July 2021 as ice cream month in the state of New York. This resolution honors the hardworking dairy farmers in the 119th district.

According to the international dairy foods association, ice cream is an $11 billion industry that supports 26,000 direct jobs and generates $1.6 billion in direct wages.

Approximately 9% of all the milk produced by the United States dairy farmers are used to produce ice cream, which greatly contributes to the economic well-being of our nation’s dairy industry.

Assemblywomn Buttenschon presented dairy farms with the New York state resolution acknowledging the significant role they play in creating this sweet treat at an event at Inside Scoop in Stittsville. She was joined by local dairy farmers and ambassadors.
