We caught up with MVHS to get a better idea on how to use an AED. Automated external defibbrillator’s are used to potentially stop an irregular heartbeat. AED’s are very simple to use, only with three buttons on the face of the device, ON/OFF, ANALYZE, and SHOCK. Once the system is turned on, the AED will walk you through the steps to administer shock or to continue CPR. Eyewitness News reporter Parker Tully caught up with Susan McKinstry RN of MVHS to learn more.
Classes are frequently held around the area and at MVHS, and cost approximately $50 to attend, the certification lasts 2 years.
