The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for most of Central New York, in effect until 1:00PM Tuesday. A Wind Chill Advisory is also in effect for the area from 12:00AM Tuesday until 10:00AM the same day.
Just before 2:00PM Monday, a tree fell on Turin Road in Rome, near The Beeches campus. Over 1,600 National Grid customers are without power in that area of Rome. The expected time when the power will be restored is 4:45PM Monday.
Northwest winds from 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected as a strong cold front moves through the region. Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Scattered to widespread power outages are possible and travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The strongest winds will occur Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills reaching 10 below to 20 below zero. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
