ILION, N.Y. (WUTR-TV)— Late Monday night, the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES Pathways Academy confirmed one positive case of COVID-19.
This case is a staff member. The school remained closed today to allow time to sanitize the entire building and contact the local department of health.
“We use it to allow the public health to do contact tracing to figure out if there are other people at risk, if we should be quarantining. We don’t know yet, it’s too early in the process to know where this particular case is going to lead us but the department of health will certainly let us know.” – Sandra Sherwood, District Superintendent, Herkimer BOCES
Superintendent Sandra Sherwood says that this will be the school’s standard moving forward, should there be additional positive cases. The school will reopen next Monday, October 19th.
