Some area women are finally able to call Utica home.
A grand opening and dedication ceremony took place at the JohnsonPark Apartments in Utica.
The apartments house women who were once homeless. Not onlyis everything new, but the buildings are energy-efficient.
One resident, Rebecca McCormick calls this her second chanceat life.
“Being homeless is giving up your identity. It’s alsogiving up your integrity and makes your self-esteem. Really go down. You justhave to build from that and that’s what I have done,” said McCormick, aresident of Johnson Park Apartments.
Rebecca says she plans on going to college. She currentlyvolunteers her time at the office at the Johnson Park Center.
