‘Feed our Vets’ finds new location to call home

UTICA N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — Feed our Vets, the veterans service organization has been operating in the Macartovin building for about 10 years. Earlier this week, the organization started packing their bags and are in the process of moving to their new location in New York Mills.

The organization will be operating out of the Mill Building on the fourth floor using 8-thousand square feet.

Back in October, the new owners of 205 Genesee St, Pathstone Corporation, sent Feed our Vets a letter, stating the non profit needs to move out by Dec. 16 for refurbishing the building.

In December, some members of the Utica Common Council stepped in. The council reached out to Pathstone asking to extend the move out date. Shortly after, Pathsone sent Feed our Vets another letter stating the organization can remain in the building until Jan. 15., which gave Synek and his team enough time to find and relocate to the Mill Building.

Synek says this new location hits all the requirements they were looking for. He signed a 2-year lease with Michael Cancilla, the owner of 587 Main St. “The owner Mike has given us a break on the square foot space, because it’s for our veterans — he’s looking at it like it’s for the veterans, not for the money.” Synek said.

Feed our Vets is expected to open in February, the organization will operate the same schedule, 2:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. every third Saturday.
