A landmark change for Hamilton College football.

For the first time since 1908, the Continentals will play nine games in a season instead of eight.  Hamilton is coming off a 3-5 season in 2016.

NESCAC chair Joanne Berger-Sweeney says the goal of the change is to solve the problem schools were having of finding an opponent to scrimmage against.

Herkimer softball hosted Frankfort-Schuyler on Friday and the Knights pounded the ball all day to win 16-3.  Maria Dinigro cranked a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to break the game open.

In local baseball, Cooperstown loses for the first time this season 13-8 to Sauquoit Valley.  The Hawkeyes are now 6-1 on the year.

New York Mills cruises past Remsen 11-1 behind 12 strikeouts from Robbie Maciol, Noah Bowen drives in 4 runs to lead Westmoreland to an 11-5 win over West Canada Valley and Dolgeville gets past Watertown 6-3.
