Ex-Felons On The Jury?


Felons who have been released from their sentences can soon get summoned for jury duty in New York State. However, prosecutors argue that individuals who have made bad decisions in the past, should not be held responsible for the fates of others. The concerns around these felons serving on jury’s, District Attorney’s are questioning if felons can act as fair jurors. On the opposite end of the argument, legislators believe the legislation will give ex-felons a second chance. Eyewitness News reporter Jenn Seelig spoke with Oneida County District Attorney, Scott McNamara to learn more about the legislation and its potential impact on the court room.
