COVID-19 Daily Briefing in Oneida County: Wednesday, May 27th, Early Edition

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — On Tuesday, Oneida County reported 12 ‌new‌ ‌positive‌ ‌cases‌ ‌of‌ ‌Coronavirus‌, this‌ ‌brings‌ ‌the‌ ‌total ‌to‌ ‌913.‌ Unfortunately, there are 2 new COVID-19 related fatalities, the total number of deaths is 43. Both individuals who passed away were living in nursing homes. 336 cases are active, 48 patients are hospitalized and 534 cases are resolved.

On Tuesday, the Herkimer County Government Facebook page confirmed one additional COVID-19 related fatality. The patient who passed away was elderly and had several underlying health issues. The total number of deaths is 4. There are 4 new positive cases, bringing the county’s total to 124. 21 cases are active, one patient is hospitalized and 98 cases are resolved.  

Yesterday the state had 1,072 additional positive cases of Coronavirus. The state’s total is more than 360,000, and this spans across 35 counties. 

During Tuesday’s daily address with Governor Cuomo announced that the Mid-Hudson Region has met all 7 metrics to begin Phase I of reopening. Long Island is still on track to reopen today, May 27th, if their contact tracing operation comes online and if deaths continue to decline.

Cuomo also said that he will meet with President Trump today in Washington, to talk about infrastructure projects that require federal approval. This includes the LaGuardia AirTrain, the Cross-Hudson Tunnels and the Second Avenue Subway expansion.
