COVID-19 Daily Briefing in Oneida County: Thursday, July 23rd

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — In Thursday’s report, Oneida County confirmed 6 new‌ ‌positive‌ ‌cases‌ ‌of‌ ‌Coronavirus‌; This‌ ‌brings‌ the ‌total ‌to‌ ‌1,940.‌ There are no new COVID-19 related fatalities; the total number of deaths is 111. 203 cases are active, 11 patients are hospitalized, 3 of which are nursing home residents, and 1,626 cases are resolved.

In Thursday’s update, the Herkimer County Government Facebook page reported 2 new positive cases of Coronavirus, the total is 232. 24 cases are active, 3 patients are hospitalized, 4 people have passed away and 204 patients have recovered.

The Otsego County Department of Health has not released a COVID-19 update since Tuesday, July 21st.

Today Governor Cuomo announced the results of an expanded testing initiative within the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to test residents over the age of 55. Nearly 4,000 patients have been tested and 77, or 1.9%, came back positive.

Cuomo also announced that a multi-agency task force will be formed to crack down on social distancing violations at restaurants and bars throughout the state. The state police and State Liquor Authority Vincent Bradley will lead the agency and employ real time data to help enforce the guidelines and give investigators violations as they happen.
