COVID-19 Daily Briefing in Oneida County: Monday, June 29th

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — In Monday’s update, Oneida County reported 20 ‌new‌ ‌positive‌ ‌cases‌ ‌of‌ ‌Coronavirus‌, 13 of which are nursing home residents. This‌ ‌brings‌ ‌the‌ ‌total ‌to‌ ‌1,549.‌ There are no new COVID-19 related fatalities; the total number of deaths is 90. 319 cases are active, 27 patients are hospitalized, and 1,140 cases are resolved.

In today’s update, the Herkimer County Government Facebook page reported no new positive cases of Coronavirus, the total is 167. 22 cases are active, one patient is currently hospitalized, 4 people have passed away and 141 patients have recovered.

On Monday, the Otsego County Department of Health confirmed one new positive case of Coronavirus, the total now at 76. No patients are currently hospitalized, 5 people have passed away and 69 patients have recovered. 

This morning the governor held a briefing with COVID-19 updates. 32 states are seeing an increase in infection rates. The Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation is projecting 10,000 more deaths by October than initially projected 2 weeks ago. Despite the White House’s response, Cuomo says reopening too quickly is not the answer. Increasing the viral spread across the country can be problematic because travelers will bring it to New York. 

On June 28th the state lost 7 lives to COVID-19. On Sunday 46,428 patients were tested, 391 or .84% came back positive and 853 patients are currently hospitalized. 

There are a few clusters of hotspots throughout the state, one being in Oswego County. The Oswego Apple Factory tested 179 employees and 82 came back positive.
