Cooperstown, Whitesboro fall in Final Four

News

The Final Four didn’t go exactly as planned for Cooperstown and Whitesboro on Friday.

The Hawkeyes (18-3) fell to Potsdam 6-2 in their first Final Four game in school history.  Reilly Hall got the start and allowed two runs in the first inning and another in the second as Cooperstown quickly fell behind 3-0.  They were never able to recover.

Whitesboro didn’t fare much better against Vestal losing 7-0 in the Class A semifinals.  Avery Cook started for the Warriors and saw three unearned runs come across in the first inning for a quick 3-0 deficit.

Vestal’s Kyle Taborne did the rest completing his second straight shutout to lead the Golden Bears to the Class A Finals on Saturday.

The Warriors’ season comes to a close with a 21-5 record and a Section III Class A title.
