Congressman-Elect Anthony Brindisi sat down with our Eyewitness News reporter, Marlee Tuskes, to talk about his election win in New York’s 22nd Congressional District. Brindisi told us about his path as an elected-official, and how he will approach each issue with our area in mind. Brindisi said he wants to keep an open door policy in his office, and will work with or against President Trump to protect and best serve the people in NY-22. Brindisi will continue something he did during his campaign by holding a town hall meeting in every county in the 22nd Congressional District, this way to give people a forum to express their concerns.
Brindisi’s win in NY-22 is historic. His Democratic upset comes as the first win over a Republican incumbent since 1948, when John Davies of Utica defeated Hadwen Fuller for the seat in what was then New York’s 35th District. Davies served one term and lost his reelection in 1950.
NY-22 Republican incumbent, Claudia Tenney, held the seat for one term.
