UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR-TV) — After months of vaccine distribution, the number of COVID positives has declined and many people are able to get a dose. Earlier this week the CDC released a new set guidelines for those who are fully vaccinated, giving them a little more taste of normalcy.

“Fully vaccinated people in an outdoor setting it’s not necessary to wear a mask any more.” – Dan Gilmore, Public Health Director, Oneida County

Also without social distancing, unless you’re in a crowded area. They can also visit un-vaccinated people, and children, who are low risk for serious disease, indoors without and mask or distancing. They don’t need to get tested for COVID if they come into contact with someone who’s positive, unless they’re symptomatic. They’ll also have an easier time flying domestically.

“If they can demonstrate that they’re fully vaccinated, that’s a huge plus for those traveling where they will not have to worry about being quarantined.” – Dan Gilmore, Public Health Director, Oneida County

There’s no need to get tested prior to or after traveling domestically. Some of these new guidelines rely on the honor system, but overall Gilmore says this is still a step in the right direction.

“It is a good development to have the restrictions eased for vaccinated people and we just have to trust others and hope that they follow the guidelines.” – Dan Gilmore, Public Health Director, Oneida County

The CDC says that everyone should still wear a mask at indoor public places, avoid large gatherings and practice good hygiene.
