Car Pedestrian Accident in Utica

(WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) — This morning Utica Police and Fire units were dispatched to Franklin Square due to a car pedestrian motor vehicle accident.

An 18-year-old female operating her car at a high rate of speed in reverse struck a male contractor, also causing damage to the car and the structure. the male was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where he is being treated for fractured bones, but no life-threatening injuries at this time. The City of Utica Engineering Department is evaluating the building for structural integrity and use in the future. Utica Police Sergeant Mike Curley says the vehicle has been secured by the Utica Police Department.

“At this point the accident is under investigation. We’re certainly trying to examine the vehicle both for mechanical as well as electronic failures and anything that may result. We are also looking for any surveillance video that may be in the area so if anybody has information or is able to share surveillance video please contact us at the Utica Police Department at 315-223-3461″ said Curley.

The City of Utica Engineering Department is evaluating the building for structural integrity and use for the future.
