UPDATE: Two shots-fired incidents in Utica, schools placed on lockdown

UTICA— The Utica City School District went into a precautionary lockdown around 12:30 p.m, after city police initiated a shots fired investigation across the street from a district elementary school.

Police are investigating a shots fired incident in the Hannaford Plaza, which is across Mohawk Street from Conkling Elementary.

All after-school activities in the district have been cancelled.

Police are also investigating a reported shots fired incident on Avery Place in West Utica.

Police say there is currently no evidence tying both incidents together, but they have leads on both shootings.
