UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – A new clinic focused on mental health is set to open in Utica.

The Beacon Center will be opening a new mental health outpatient clinic at 1508 Genesee Street in the city of Utica.  The clinic will have counselors specialized in several mental health issues, including trauma and domestic violence counseling. Serving Oneida County and the surrounding areas, the clinic will also provide substance abuse treatment.

The Beacon Center, founded in 1990 by Herkimer resident Faith Nichols-Peterson, runs ten sites across New York State. This includes two opioid treatment programs in Rome and Utica and a community re-integration system in Herkimer.

The opening of the new Mental Health Treatment Center is scheduled for Monday, March 27.
