Veterans at the St. Luke’s Home got a special visit frombaseball players across New York State.

Coaches and players from eight district championship teamsare in town this week.

They’ll be in Utica to play in the 2012 New York State AmericanLegion Baseball Tournament at Murnane Field.

Players met with veterans and residents to talk about America’spastime.

One veteran tells eyewitness news he has been a baseball fanfor life.

“I was always the first baseman because i was lefthanded. We had our own team. We called ourselves the Schulyer Midgets. Weplayed baseball soccer you name it we were always busy,” said Louis Mazurowski,a veteran.

 The five daytournament begins Wednesday. The first pitch will be thrown out at 8 p.m.
