Utica Police made an arrest hours after a robbery at NBT Bank on Genesee Street Friday afternoon in the city. 31 year old Nicholas Salls was taken into custody in the downtown area just two hours after the robbery occurred. Salls was spotted by a Utica Police Investigator near Charlotte and Lansing Streets. There was a brief foot pursuit before Salls was aprehended.
The robber threatened the bank teller with a gun, but no weapon was displayed.
Salls was charged with Third Degree Robbery and Third Degree Grand Larceny. Both are Class D felonies. The amount of money taken from the NBT Bank on Friday was not revealed.
It was the second robbery within the city in a week.
