MOHAWK VALLEY, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon hosted a tour of six local farms in the Mohawk Valley for assembly members who serve across the state. Buttenschon’s colleagues visited Collins Creamery, Jones Landscaping, DiNitto Farms, Candella’s Farms, Sciortino Farms, and Buttenschon Tree Farm. They have partnered with Cornell Cooperative Extension and their ‘Building Bridges Program’ which connects Upstate New York farmers with the Queens Chamber of Commerce.
Buttenschon tells us that assembly members attended today to help support and understand the importance of the farm industry.
“Listening to the Candella’s as well as the other farmers in regards to the challenges they have faced. So, as legislators we understand those challenges when we head back to Albany to make those modifications. Sara is the reason we’re able to eat healthy with so many fruits and vegetables that they can provide for us as well as our various beef farms and we went to dairy farms. So again, if we’re looking at the importance of how we’re going to ensure healthy, safe foods, these are the individual’s that do it for us every day.” – Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon
The Assemblywoman says she commends farmers and the challenges they have overcome throughout the pandemic.
