Arrest Made In Remington Incident

An arrest has been made in connection to a threat made against Remington Arms Thursday afternoon. State Police have charged Matthew Spaman, 30, of Ilion, with Second Degree Falsely Reporting an Incident, a felony. The Remington plant was placed on lockdown while police investigated a bomb threat posted on Facebook.

Officers from Ilion Police along with State Police K9 checked the entire facility and determined the area clear. Spaman was located at his residence and taken into custody without incident. He was arraigned in the town of German Flats and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail without bail. The Ilion Police Department, Herkimer County Sheriff’s Department and the Herkimer County District Attorney’s Office assisted in the investigation.
