HERKIMER, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – ARC Herkimer has received funding for a special type of training for people with disabilities.
First Source Federal Credit Union announced on Tuesday, March 28 that they have given the Copper Café in Ilion an additional $5,000 to continue their work in the community. The café, which is run by Arc Herkimer, provides on-the-job training for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including cooking, customer service, and understanding finances.
First Source has also provided financial skills to the workers, including money management, and planning for the future.
Operating out of the ARC Herkimer Mall in Ilion, the café has been providing comfort foods and heart-healthy options for the last year. Specialties of their menu include all-day breakfast and lunch, as well as a smoothie bowl.
