A man in Ilion has been arrested for multiple counts of Welfare Fraud

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY-TV) – A man from Ilion has been charged with multiple counts of Welfare Fraud.

The Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office Welfare Fraud Unit, assisted by the Herkimer County Department of Social Services have arrested 41-year-old Edward J. Dygert of Ilion for the following:

  • Grand Larceny in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Welfare Fraud in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
  • Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the First Degree (Class E Felony)

Dygert allegedly received more than $8,700.00 in fraudulent benefits over a 48-month period. He has been arraigned in the City of Little Falls Court in front of Judge Rose and was then released. Dygert is scheduled to appear in the Village of Herkimer Court at-a-later-date.
