(WUTR-TV) — On Tuesday, September 8th, State Senator James Seward presented the 2020 New York State Senate Woman of Distinction Award to Oneonta resident, Mallory Delaney.
“I was really surprised and there’s a part of me that was sort of struck with, well everyone should get an award after these last couple of months. That was probably my initial thought was this is wonderful, but i wish it was everyone’s award.” – Mallory Delaney, MHS, PA-C, Bassett Healthcare Network
Mallory is a physician assistant who practices internal medicine at Bassett Healthcare Network. When the pandemic hit our region, she had to quickly adjust to helping patients with COVID-19.
“We started having a COVID screening tent in our parking lots. The nurses who’s worked with me day in and day out, we both just said well i’ll do it and here we are. In the early times of march we were working 2 hour shifts in the morning and 2 hour shifts in the afternoon and it was freezing. And then we condensed it down and then it was really hot. So we had the opportunity to go through all of the seasons with it.” – Mallory Delaney, MHS, PA-C, Bassett Healthcare Network
Like many medical professionals, Mallory scarified her health for the needs of others.
“I don’t think any of us looking back at it would have done it any differently even knowing the same level of risks .I hope we realize how many people have worked through this.” – Mallory Delaney, MHS, PA-C, Bassett Healthcare Network
