On November 19th, the Herkimer-Fulton-Hamilton-Otsego BOCES was notified that two of its staff members at the William E. Busacker Complex on Gros Boulevard in Herkimer tested positive for COVID-19. Classes at the complex were dismissed after only a half-day of classes, so it is possible that the student body may not have been exposed.
As a precaution, all Herkimer County BOCES Special Programs classes are going to change to full remote learning starting on Friday November 20th. There will be a fourteen-day quarantine that will conclude on November 27th, after Thanksgiving. The Special Programs classes will resume with on campus learning at the WEB Complex on Monday, November 30th.
All other Herkimer BOCES programs, that have not been affected by this exposure, will continue on with their regular schedules.
Herkimer BOCES and local health officials are working closely together on contact-tracing and on the continued investigation and progression of the situation. If it is determined that further steps or quarantine is need, faculty, staff, and students will be contacted as needed.
Further information and announcements will be provided as updates are available. If you have further questions/concerns, do not hesitate to contact the BOCES district office at 315-867-2023.
