$1M county funds approved for Cree site work, legislators ‘OK’ other matters

News

UTICA–Oneida County legislators approved to send $1 million to Mohawk Valley Edge’s efforts to prepare the Marcy site where Cree plans to build a $1 billion chip fabrication facility.

At a regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, the board of legislators approved the funding assistance as site grading and movement of dirt continues at the project location.

In addition, legislators advanced a resolution that grants the county to consider a local law to establish a new ‘traffic diversion program.’

The program idea was born out of an expected uptick in evidence-gathering needed for issued traffic tickets, after statewide bail reform becomes effective Jan. 1.
