Utica - After months of preparation, the historic Utica Memorial Auditorium will finally play host to another American Hockey League team.

The Utica Comets play their first ever home game at The AUD tonight against the Albany Devils.

Doors open for season ticket holders at 5:45 p.m.  Doors open to the general public at 6:15 p.m.

The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:35 p.m.

The 0-3 Comets are still searching for their first win.  They have fallen to the Rochester Americans twice and the Albany Devils once, being outscored 13 to 7.

Before the game, a special “Fan Fest,” brought to you by Galaxy Communications, is taking place in the empty field between Whitesboro and Water Streets.  It starts at 4 p.m.

Gordie Howe, The Hansen Brothers from the movie “Slapshot,” and select Comets players will be participating in an autograph session.  The 80’s rock band “Night Ranger,” along with the local band “Showtime,” will perform a free concert.  There will also be food, beer, and fireworks at dusk.

For fans that would still like to watch the game, but couldn’t get a ticket, the game will be broadcast on a big screen projection unit outside The AUD.

According to the Utica Comets, parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis in the parking lot across the street from The AUD for $5.00.  The Washington Street and Kennedy Plaza parking garages will also be open until 11:30 p.m.  Parking there is $5.00.

Due to the Fan Fest, Broadway, Charles, and Whitesboro Streets down to Cornelia Street will be closed.  There will be no parking on Whitesboro Street or in Labor Ready’s parking lot.
