Utica City Schools took part in a winter-weather drill today. School was delayed two hours in anticipation of bad weather to come or other emergencies. District Superintendent Bruce Karam tells us the practice delay was successful and bus transportation went smoothly. In the wake of nation-wide school violence Karam says he's confidant the Utica City School district is a safe one.
"Our staff is highly trained, you know all we can do is be prepared as we can possibly be and I believe yes we are very safe and we're ready God forbid something should happen," he said.
The only issue with the drill he says, was that the automated phone message did not reach every home. The district is working on updating their telephone records.
