With concerns about the common core heating up, and winter finals fast approaching, the duo says the learning center provides peace of mind for parents. They say they offer a different learning approach to students of all ages.

"We understand what its like to have a child at home struggling around the kitchen table. As a parent, you're wondering what am I going to do next? I don't feel prepared to do it myself. Who do you turn too? We feel we have a unique perspective as parents," says Jennifer Nelson, director at Utica's Sylvan Learning Center.

Nelson says Utica's Sylvan Learning Center has also started using a new program called Sylvan-Sync. It's a teaching approach that incorporates technology, like the iPad, to help in students learning.
