The Waterfront Grille's annual tailgate party is usually just a fun way to give back to the united way. But this year--with memories of the flood still all too fresh for many--the fundraiser means a lot more than usual to everyone in Herkimer and Herkimer County.
“I think it's going to be a lot better this year because we had a rough time in Herkimer this year. We had the flood, a few other things and it gets everybody together and it's a fun time," says Rocky Fiato, owner of the Waterfront Grille.
Fun and a fundraiser. Admission to the party is 20 dollars. Because all of the food is donated that means all of the proceeds will go to the United Way. The charity spent thousands of dollars on post-flood relief helping the community recover. This is one way to help the united way replenish its depleted disaster relief funds.
“They were there for us when we had our problems with the flooding this is our way in the valley to give back to them, to help them,” says Marc Butler, NYS Assemblyman.
The party is on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Waterfront Grille on Mohawk street across from the Herkimer Thruway exit. Tickets are $20.
