A Trenton woman found an emaciated Cattle Dog wandering near her home on Monday. Experts believe the dog, who they’re calling Lucy, is 20 to 30 pounds underweight. She has sores on her legs, urine stains and her ribs are showing through.
But Deborah Lenaghen, who found the dog in the woods near her house, could not do much to help the starving dog without the Town of Trenton Dog Warden.
"I called the Dog Warden and his wife said he can't get here until after 6:00, he gets out of work at 6:00 pm and I called him before and he never responded to the last situation with two dogs that were being starved,” says Lenaghen.
Lenaghen could have been accused of stealing the dog if she took her to the vet and owners came forward, which is why she called the Oneida County Sheriff's Office.
Lucy was taken to Stevens-Swan Humane Society.
