The American Legion presented a generous donation to Sitrin Medical Center today.

Squadron 1448 raised thousands of dollars, and the Oneida County Sons of American Legion presented 2,000 to the center.

All the funds will help rehabilitate wounded veterans.

"Because today is a day to celebrate veterans, we thought it was an appropriate day to do the donations, because we are here to help", Commander Dennis George said.

Veteran Paul Smith believes the donation comes at a time when help is more important than ever.

"It's a new generation of disabled vets coming through and today I see what see what Sitrin Home is trying to do for this next generation", Smith said.

"It's something that we have chosen because it’s a place that locally deals with the wounded military, and you're dealing with both mental and physical issues", George said.

The donations will help vets cope with post-traumatic stress, brain injuries, and other battle related conditions.
