State Police were called to State Route 5 in the Town of Schuyler on Saturday morning, where they discovered that two people were installing a metal roof shortly before they fell.

Around 10:25 a.m. Christine Bommarito, age 39, lost her footing and called for help as she began sliding on the roof. Onoroto Bommarito, age 59, came from the other side of the roof to help, but lost his footing as well. They both fell, landing on the asphalt pavement below. Onoroto Bommarito landed on his head, causing massive trauma. He was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

Cristine Bommarito, who landed on her feet, is being treated for multiple fractures.

The investigation continues.
