The rumor mill is back in full swing in yet another Remington Arms debate. Some residents are concerned the Ilion gun maker could be leaving the area based on a Tennessee newspaper article. The article claimed that Remington looked around the Nashville area over the last month scouting sites near Nashville's airport, Lebanon and in Clarksville, Tennessee. But the newspaper didn't cite any sources for it's information. Eyewitness News reached out to Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney who said she recently spoke with Remington Arms and she says as of now, Remington is not going anywhere.

"This is the type of thing that businesses do. They look around for expansion, or to relocate. As everyone knows, Remington is part of the Freedom Group and Freedom Group has a number of locations, not just in Ilion. But this person assured me that management is committed to Ilion. Now is this committed for 5 years, 10 years, 6 months, I don't know," says Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney, (R) District 101.

As we've reported, Remington Arms employs over 1,000 people in our region and the company recently announced the company was investing $20-million dollars into it's Ilion facility. That's another reason Assemblywoman Tenney says it doesn't look like a company that's going anywhere.
