Orange win 3rd Maui Invitational, defeat #18 Baylor 74-67

The SU men’s basketball team won their third Maui Invitational after defeating the Baylor Bears 74-67.

Maui, HI (WSYR-TV/SportsNetwork.com) - The SU men’s basketball team won their third Maui Invitational after defeating the Baylor Bears 74-67.

The 8th ranked Orange were led by senior forward CJ Fair, who scored 24 points in the victory. Sophomore forward Jerami Grant came off the bench to post 19 points, scoring 8 of 12 from the field.

Baylor junior guard Kenny Chery paced the 18th ranked Bears with 12 points and 8 assists. Senior forward Cory Jefferson scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the Bears’ first defeat of the season.

SU remains undefeated with a record of 7-0.

The Orange also won the Maui Invitational in 1990 and 1998.

Up next, the Orange will face Indiana on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7:15 p.m. in the Carrier Dome.
