Orange fans trying to make the trip to New Jersey for the opener against Penn State

Football season has returned and it’s time for the Orange to kick off a new campaign.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Football season has returned and it’s time for the Orange to kick off a new campaign.

Although it’s technically a home game, Syracuse University will face old-time rival Penn State at Metlife Stadium in the Meadowlands.

Nevertheless, plenty of Orange fans are hoping to make the stadium feel like the game is being played at home in Syracuse – and Caz Limo is sending as many buses as it can to give the team plenty of support from their home town.

"This year with Penn State it was more of a gradual thing, it wasn't a late pile on. SU, USC last year was everybody at the last minute, everybody piled on, all wanted to go. You hear the name Penn State, you already know the name,” said Mike Russett of Caz Limo.

Caz Limo won’t be the only company providing buses to New Jersey.

On Tuesday morning at the Carrier Dome Gate B, Otto’s Army was giving away free bus vouchers to the game – 200 of them – so that students can attend.

There are still tickets available at the Dome Box office, as well as NYCollegeClassic.com or by calling 1-888-DOME-TIX.

"It's a big stadium, about 30,000 seats bigger than the Dome. It's open, but there's a big contingency of Orange fans there. A lot of the block tickets are all together so you get a big circle of Orange around the bottom of the arena. It's a football game, college football,” Russett said.

Trips to New Jersey are becoming a mainstay of life as an Orange fan – whether it’s a Pinstripe Bowl appearance or an early-season inter-conference matchup.

Russett says they only have about 10 bus seats still open. They’ll send two full buses and several fully chartered buses to the game.

Those who can’t make it to MetLife will be able to cheer on the Orange by watching NewsChannel 9 at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
