Some folks who live in Downtown Utica are back in their homes after a standoff at 1523 Oneida street that ended early Friday morning. Police responded to a call from a neighbor around 10:30 Thursday night.
When they arrived they found a man barricaded inside his apartment. Neighbors told police they thought the man might have a gun.
"When you have these situations, you have to evacuate neighboring homes and it was very cold so we had to make facilities available for these people to not be freezing cold out in their pajamas so it was quite an operation as these are sometimes, unfortunately," said Sargent Steve Hauck of the Utica Police Department.
The unidentified man was eventually taken into custody. He is under-going a mental evaluation. No one was hurt.
