Officials in Washington, DC have identified a suspect in shootings at the US Navy Yard that took the lives of at least a dozen people on Monday morning.
Officials in Washington, DC have identified a suspect in shootings at the US Navy Yard that took the lives of at least a dozen people on Monday morning.

Police have said that the suspect is 34-year-old Aaron Alexis of Fort Worth, Texas.

Initially, police said that they were looking for two other possible suspects who were at large. They have said they believe Alexis acted alone.

Media reports have indicated that 14 are injured.

Law enforcement officials are among those injured, police said.

A MedStar Washington Hospital Center official said at a news conference that three patients were admitted with multiple gunshot wounds and "severe injuries," but the victims are expected to survive.

About 3,000 people work at the Navy facility.
