The former Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce changed its name today as part of a re-branding effort. It's now the "Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, which the board says gives it a more familiar identity. This is the sixth time the organization has switched its name in its 117-year history. It will continue to represent businesses in Herkimer, Oneida, and Madison counties, but is trying to align itself with the recent "Nano-Utica" excitement.
"The other piece of this is just embracing the energy that's going on in our region right now, we have the Nano-Utica, the Utica Comets, the Utica Tower, and why not the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce," said Pamela Matt, Executive Director of the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce.
