Hometown Hero Michael Hennessy

Michael Hennessy is a member of the US Army National Guard out of Syracuse. <p>Mike graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a BS in Business and joined the Army National Guard at an Intelligence Analyst. He just recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan. While serving overseas, Michael received recognition from the Army for his exceptional work and achievements with the Special Forces.</p> <p>Mike grew up near Albany, but spent his summers at a family camp in Old Forge. During those warm Adirondack summers, he had a job as a lifeguard. While keeping vacationers safe at Enchanted Forest, he met fellow lifeguard Laurie Mierek. They both did lifesaving duty at the water park. Now, they are looking after each other's lives as they plan on getting married in Inlet, this summer.</p> <p>Michael is known by his friends as a natural running coach because he is an avid runner. He was one of the top finishers in the Boilermaker Shadow Run in Afghanistan, and is set to run the Boilermaker Road Race in Utica this year.</p> <p>Eyewitness News Salutes you, Michael Hennessy, and we're proud to have you as our Hometown Hero.</p>
