The American Heart Association recommends filling your plate with vegetables, instead of just eating turkey and other holiday meats.
They tell people to make sure holiday beverages don't have excessive amounts of sugar.
Most of all - they stress moderation.
"It's a very difficult time, one you have cookies you have cakes you all this delicious food. But it also can be so stressful and people tend to eat more when they're stressed," Dietitian Alessandra Kershaw says.
The more moderation now...could lead to a healthier new year.
