FNF Football Kickoff Show Segment 3

A look at Class D East.
WELCOME BACK TO FRIDAY NIGHT FEVER'S HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL KICKOFF SHOW.
IF WE HADN'T ALREADY LABELED CLASS B EAST THE "BEAST" DIVISION, THAT TITLE COULD VERY WELL APPLY TO THE EAST IN CLASS D.
COOPERSTOWN, DOLGEVILLE, HERKIMER, MORRISVILLE, SAUQUOIT VALLEY, WATERVILLE AND WEST CANADA VALLEY WILL CALL CLASS D EAST HOME FOR THE 2013 SEASON.
WITH ONLY TWO GURANTEED PLAYOFF BIRTHS FROM THE DIVISION, EVERY GAME AND EVERY VICTORY WILL BE CRUCIAL FOR TEAMS LOOKING TO MAKE THE POSTSEASON.

OUR TRIP THROUGH CLASS D EAST STARTS WITH SAUQUOIT VALLEY.
THE INDIANS PLAYED WELL ENOUGH TO GRAB A FIVE SEED IN THE 2012 PLAYOFFS BUT THAT TEAM HAS SINCE GRADUATED 22 SENIORS.
IN THEIR PLACE, 22 SOPHMORES EAGER TO LEARN THE VARSITY ROPES AND PERHAPS, A BIT MORE TEAM SPEED FOR A SQUAD THAT LIKES TO AIR IT OUT.

"DEFINATELY THE SKILL POSITIONS. WE HAVE MORE TEAM SPEED, ALL AROUND FROM THE RECEIVER AND RUNNING BACK POSITIONS THEN WE HAD LAST YEAR. LAST YEAR WE WERE MORE NORTH-SOUTH TEAM, THIS YEAR I THINK WE HAVE SOME GUYS, IF WE CAN FIND A HOLE, I THINK CAN BREAK A BIG PLAY FOR US. " - ROCKY CORIGLIANO

" WE CAN THROW THE BALL, WE'RE PHYSICAL AND WE'RE WILLING TO LEARN AND PLAY HARD ALL THE TIME. " - ETHAN HARRIS

SAUQUOIT VALLEY STARTS THE YEAR AT HOME FIRDAY NIGHT AGAINST CLASS C OPPONENT MOUNT MARKHAM.

WEST CANADA VALLEY WILL ALSO LOOK TO MAKE SOME NOISE IN CLASS D.
LAST SEASON THE INDIANS SECURED A TWO SEED IN THE PLAYOFFS AND DEFEATED A TOUGH PULASKI TEAM BEFORE LOSING IN THE SEMI-FINALS TO WESTMORELAND.
WITH NEARLY A FULL SQUAD OF RETURNING PLAYERS, THE INDIANS ARE SETTING THEIR SIGHTS ON A DEEP RUN INTO THE PLAYOFFS.

" EXPERIENCE, LIKE I SAID WE ONLY LOST 4 STARTERS FROM LAST YEAR. AND THEN WHAT I LIKE SO FAR THAT I'VE SEEN, ESPECIALLY SHOWED IN OUR SCRIMMAGE IS OUR TEAM SPEED. PROBABLY THE FASTEST DEFENSE I'VE SEEN SINCE I'VE BEEN HERE. " - MIKE MOODY

" WELL AS A TEAM I'D LIKE TO TAKE THE NEXT STEP, MAYBE GET TO THE DOME THIS YEAR. THAT'D BE PRETTY AWESOME. IT'S JUST A GOAL I'VE HAD SINCE I WAS LITTLE AND WATCHED IT ON TV EVERY YEAR. SO I'D LIKE TO BE THERE." - BRANDON ROBERTS

WEST CANADA VALLEY WILL HAVE THEIR WORK CUT OUT FOR THEM IN WEEK ONE. THEY WILL HOST DEFENDING CLASS C-2 CHAMPION HERKIMER ON SATURDAY.

AND SPEAKING OF HERKIMER, THE MAGICIANS ARE THE TALK OF THE TOWN AMONG CLASS D.
AFTER WINNING THE CLASS C-2 TITLE LAST SEASON WITH A 41-7 VICTORY OVER LOWVILLE, HERKIMER NOW FINDS ITSELF PLACED IN CLASS D EAST.
DESPITE THE DROP IN CLASS THE MAGICIANS ARE NO LESS FOCUSED ON WINNING A SECTIONAL TITLE, AND THIS HERKIMER SQUAD JUST MIGHT HAVE THE HORSES FOR A WINNING TRIP TO THE DOME AND BEYOND.

" WELL WE HAD A NICE YEAR WITH OUR RUNNING BACKS LAST YEAR. MATT BORAK, AND RYAN FAHY AND WE ALSO GOT OUR QUARTERBACK BACK, AUSTIN MILLS AND THEY'RE THREE BIG KIDS THAT HAD A GREAT YEAR LAST YEAR." - ALAN STEELE

" I THINK OUR OFFENSE, I THINK OUR PASSING GAME SHOULD DEVELOP VERY NICELY AROUND OUR RUNNING GAME AND I THINK THAT'S GOING TO BE THEY KEY TO SUCCESS THIS YEAR." - RYAN FAHY

" WELL DEFINATELY SUCCES BREEDS SUCCESSS. THESE KIDS WANNA PLAY FOOTBALL AND ONE THING WE PREACH IS NOT TO BE SATISFIED. I THINK IT'S SOMETHING, WE TALK ABOUT WINNING ONE GAME AT A TIME BUT WE ALSO TALK ABOUT WINNING CHAMPIONSHIPS AND WHAT IT TAKES TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS AND HOW TO PRACTICE TO WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS." - ALAN STEELE

" THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED IN THE DOME MY SOPHMORE YEAR I WAS ALL NERVOUS. MOST OF US PLAYED LAST YEAR IN THE DOME, SO I THINK IF WE GET BACK THERE, THE JITTERS AREN'T GOING TO BE AS MUCH, AND I THINK EVEN BECAUSE WE LOST IN THE DOME, WE'RE GONNA HAVE THAT DRIVE TO PUSH FORWARD AND GET FARTHER THAN JUST THE SECTIONAL TITLE. " - AUSTIN MILLS

" IT'S EXCITING TO DROP DOWN TO D'S ONLY BECAUSE WE GET THE CHANCE TO PLAY SOME TEAMS WE HAVEN'T PLAYED IN THE PAST AT ALL AND SOME TEAMS WE HAVEN'T PLAYED IN A WHILE. SO IT'S EXCITING, WE'RE UP TO THE CHALLENGE. WE'LL BE COMPETITIVE THIS YEAR. " - ALAN STEELE

AFTER THERE WEEK ONE MATCHUP WITH WEST CANADA VALLEY THE MAGICIANS RETURN HOME IN WEEK TWO FOR A GAME AGAINST A REVAMPED DOLGEVILLE TEAM.
