Final Score: SU defeats NC State 24 - 10

The Orange locked up their first conference win since joining the ACC.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Orange locked up their first conference win since joining the ACC when they traveled to Raleigh and defeated North Carolina State on Saturday.

Neither team scored a point in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, SU running back Jerome Smith scored a touchdown on a one-yard run.

Smith carried the ball 19 times and rushed for 140 yards.

SU quarterback Terrel Hunt completed ten of 20 passes for a total of 74 yards.  He also threw two interceptions.

Hunt picked up 92 yards rushing and one touchdown.

Running back Prince-Tyson Gulley rushed for a total of 132 yards and one touchdown.

NC State also scored a touchdown in the second quarter when quarterback Pete Thomas threw a 21-yard scoring pass to tight end David Grinnage.

At halftime, the score was tied at 7. 

In the third quarter, SU's Ryan Norton kicked a 19-yard field goal to make it 10 - 7.  That was the score at the end of the quarter.

Gulley and Hunt scored their rushing touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make it 24 - 10 after NC State kicked a field goal.

That ended up being the final score.

SU's record on the year is 3-3.

This is NC State's first loss to SU. In the two programs’ last meeting in 1998, the Wolfpack won 38-17.
