Domestic Violence Lawsuit: Kylie Turczyn's Mother Suing Utica Police Department

It was a murder-suicide that claimed two lives. Kylie Turcyzn of Deerfield was murdered in June 2012 and her 4-year-old daughter Gabby witnessed it all. Over a year later, Turcyzn's mother is suing the city of Utica Police Department and a police investigator in U.S. District Court. Turczyn's mother claims the Utica Police Department did not do enough to prevent the tragedy. Police had been to Kylie's home before for domestic violence calls, and Kylie had called domestic violence investigator, Elizabeth Shanley, just days before her ex-boyfriend Thomas "TJ" Anderson shot and killed her. He then turned the gun on himself. Turczyn's mother thinks Shanley and police could have done more. We reached out to the Turczyn family today they told Eyewitness News they did not want to comment. We also reached out to the Utica Police Department and they say they "do not comment on pending litigation."
