On Tuesday, protest signs cropping up in east Utica. Those on streets near the site of the proposed Stewart’s shop location.
Some of the signs reading, “keep Monroe residential.” That's referring to the street that runs near the site. Last week east Utica residents met with a Stewart’s representative and continue to take a strong stance against the proposed shop.
"They are not wanted in east Utica. Stewart's promotes themselves as a community friendly business. We like Stewart’s but we don't want a residential property taken," says Barbara Cannarelli, of east Utica.
Stewart’s Shops is still pursuing this east Utica location.
