Residents of the apartments as well as East and West Utica met tonight to further discuss the pros and cons of a newly proposed Stewart’s coming to East Utica and not West. Utica. residents of East Utica are in opposition to the idea saying that it will hinder the residential neighborhood. West Utica and residents of the Kennedy Plaza Apartments welcome the idea saying that it will improve their neighborhood and would be a well needed addition to West Utica. A representative from Stewart’s was on hand, to field questions from the public about this debate.
"I had previously been contacted about coming to West Utica and I stand by the same message, and that is that Stewart’s is excited to come to East Utica and if the store does as well as we anticipate, it's likely that there will be other locations in the city that we'll undertake," says Chuck Marshall, Stewart’s Project Manager.
Representatives from Stewart’s must meet before a planning board at city hall on May 14 before any further action is taken.
